FAQ
- Is CASE Batbusters affiliated with other "batbusters"?
- No! While there is a common lineage dating back to the 1980's, CASE Batbusters and OC Batbusters (including any of their "franchises" in other regions of the country) are completely separate entities.
- When was CASE Batbusters formed?
- 1989! In 1985, Bob Wenk approached Gary Hanning (founder of OC Batbusters) and asked to use the OC Batbusters name for his 12U team. His team went on to win the OC Batbusters first national championship that year.
- In 1989 Bob Wenk decided to leave the OC Batbusters Organization to form a new organization that focused on individual player success. As a result, Bob Wenk (along with Jim Dolan) formed CASE Batbusters.
- Where did the Organization's name come from?
- Bob Wenk was a businessman in the knife/cutting instrument industry. As a result, he had a relationship with the owners of Case Knives. In the early years, Case Knives sponsored CASE Batbusters. The owners of Case Knives later sold the business. When that happened, the sponsorship ended, but CASE Batbusters had become it's own brand.
- Today, the word "CASE" has become an acronym for Character, Attitude, Strength, Excellence (the core values of the organization).
- What's the meaning behind XX in the logo?
- The XX is part of the Case Knives logo. The following is taken directly from the Case Knives website: "The Tested XX is a symbol of Case's commitment to quality which can be traced back to the early days of Case when blades were tempered and tested not just once (X), but twice (XX)."
- Today, the XX in our logo is symbolic of our lineage and is representative of our commitment to excellence. It's also a reminder to always double check ourselves (players and coaches) when we find ourselves slacking-off or not giving 100% effort.
- How many CASE Batbusters teams are there?
- The total number of CASE Batbusters teams changes each yar. In an average year, we'll have one team in the 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age divisions. Since we don't operate as a for-profit business, we tend to only have 1-2 teams in any one age division. And, those teams are usually not in competition with each other (geographically) for players. But, there may be years we have a total of 1-2 teams or as many as 10 teams. We are selective with who we allow to coach under the CASE Batbusters name.
- One thing the CASE Batbusters Organization does NOT do is franchise out the name. You will never see CASE Batbusters teams in other regions of California or other states. Part of the concept of the Organization is that all teams work together for a common goal. CASE Batbusters teams and players aren't just a random collection of people and teams simply wearing the same jersey.
